Who We Are

We are a group of Olin students interested in creating and maintaining an organic farm on campus.  We hope to increase awareness of food justice issues and the importance of local agriculture in broader sustainability solutions.  This coming season we hope to engage as many people as possible in helping with the garden and making it a part of the Olin community.  Special thanks to the lovely folks of Regeneration Farm over at Wellesley College for all their help in the initial phases of the garden.

Gaby is a farmer wannabe.  Despite (and perhaps as a result of) being raised in an apartment in New York City, she has had a lot of experience raising vegetables.  The first time she sunk her hands into rich organic soil and planted seedlings she caught the farming bug.  She hasn't been able to get the bug out, doing various things like starting a worm compost bin in her dorm room and dreaming about starting a garden.  Gaby hopes to use her knowledge gained from working on a farm to make the Secret Garden as successful as it can be.  In her spare time she enjoys bike riding, building things and dumpster diving.

David is a rambunctious hippie.  An avid backpacker and tea enthusiast, he is ready and excited to dive into a world of farming. When he isn't not showering, he enjoys sitting in trees, biking and long walks in the forest.  You can always spot him in a crowd wearing a classic faded tie-dye shirt, talking about North Carolina, and dancing to folk music.  He has been involved in the Olin composting program for two years and is extremely passionate about campus sustainability efforts.

Mary is not a hipster. Also not a southerner (despite being from Florida). She spends her time enjoying quality food, introducing Olin to hugely popular bands before they were hugely popular, and harmonizing to most every song she hears.
